Brigadier General Brian E. Winski and Congressman Mike Gallagher to Speak at Milwaukee Armed Forces Week Banquet
The Milwaukee Armed Forces Week Banquet celebrates the commitment and service of those in our Armed Forces.
Milwaukee, April 24, 2017… The Milwaukee Armed Services Committee announced today that Brigadier General Brian E. Winski will be the keynote speaker for the Milwaukee Armed Forces Week Banquet, accompanied by Congressman Mike Gallagher. This sold-out event will take place on Monday, May 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the Wisconsin Club, and will honor recipients of the Gary Wetzel Award and the Citizen Support for Our Armed Services Award.
About Brigadier General Brian E. Winski (Pictured)
Originally from Wisconsin, Brigadier General Brian E. Winski assumed duty as the 31st Director of the Army Operations, Readiness, and Mobilization, on August 19, 2016.
Brigadier General Winski was commissioned through ROTC and entered active duty as an Infantry Officer in 1989. Winksi has extensive Joint and interagency experiences. He served as the Operations Director (CJ-3) for Regional Command East in Afghanistan, G-3 Chief of Operations for Multi-National Division North in Iraq, and as a Military Professor in the leadership department at the Naval War College. He has also served in various command and staff positions over multiple combat tours to Iraq and Afghanistan throughout his career. Brig. Gen. Winski’s most recent assignment was as the Deputy Commanding General for Operations for the 82nd Airborne Division.
About Congressman Mike Gallagher
First elected in 2016, Congressman Mike Gallagher represents Wisconsin’s 8th District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Gallagher is a 7th generation Wisconsin native, born and raised in Green Bay.
Congressman Gallagher joined the United States Marine Corps the day he graduated from college and served for seven years on active duty as a Counterintelligence/Human Intelligence Officer and Regional Affairs Officer for the Middle East/North Africa, eventually earning the rank of Captain. He deployed twice to Al Anbar Province, Iraq as a commander of intelligence teams, served on General Petraeus’s Central Command Assessment Team in the Middle East, and worked for three years in the intelligence community, including tours at the National Counterterrorism Center and the Drug Enforcement Agency.
In Congress, Gallagher serves on the House Armed Services Committee, where he is a member of the Seapower and Projection Forces, as well as the Readiness Subcommittees. He also serves on the Homeland Security Committee, where he is a member of the Counterterrorism and Intelligence, and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Subcommittees. Since being elected, Gallagher has been a vocal proponent of strengthening our armed forces, most recently he testified before the House Appropriations Committee and advocated for the inclusion of three additional littoral combat ships in the federal 2018 budget.

The 2017 Milwaukee Armed Forces Week, to be held Monday, May 15 - Saturday, May 20, is a joint effort of the Milwaukee Armed Services Committee, comprised of members of the United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and National Guard, as well as Milwaukee-area citizens and veterans. Its mission is to increase public understanding of the role of the military in a democratic society as well as honor and acknowledge the Milwaukee area people serving in the Armed Forces of the United States.
